THE OPPORTUNITY

A Global Fortune 100 firm wanted to close a gap in its development training offerings for pre-executive level leaders. The company identified several criteria for the desired solution. It was critical that programming be delivered by experts in the field of leadership and business. The program must be highly accessible for all leaders across the globe and offer high potential leaders the opportunity to gain perspective from other high caliber professionals hailing from different backgrounds, geographies, companies, and industries. Finally, the program must be in support of the organization’s goal to build a more representative and inclusive leadership team.

THE SOLUTION

The company strategically partnered with TLC to accelerate the growth and success of its diverse, high-potential leaders. TLC's expertise in helping best-in-class organizations create opportunities for historically underrepresented leaders aligned perfectly with the company's vision of having a more diverse leadership team. Given the global nature of the TLC program, leaders from the company’s offices across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas would be able to participate in the TLC Leaders Program. For the first time, all leaders would have access to a high-caliber leadership development program taught by thought leaders from the Harvard Business School faculty. Over the span of 3 years, the company sponsored 300+ leaders from historically underrepresented groups for the TLC Leaders Program.

THE IMPACT

The firm conducted an in-depth longitudinal study in order to evaluate the ROI of its TLC investment as well as TLC’s impact on the company and individual leaders. The study concluded that leaders who go through the TLC Leaders Program have a faster career trajectory than those who do not. Specifically, leaders who completed the TLC Leaders Program have an 18 - 22% higher career velocity (including promotion) when compared to a lookalike control group of high-performing, diverse leaders. As this company exclusively enrolls participants from historically underrepresented backgrounds, its senior leadership team is diversifying at a faster rate because of the firm’s partnership with TLC.
